2017 Gala for Recovery Bob Gray Community Partner Awardee: STEVE ATIG, ESQUIRE

In long-term recovery for more then seven years, Steve believes that his life is a story of hope and redemption.  Steven Altig, Esquire, is a Criminal Defense Attorney and Partner in the Adras & Altig Law Firm, where he provides sliding scale and pro bono work for people in trouble as a result of their addiction and mental health challenges.

Steve represents the young men of the Youth Offenders Court program (YO Court) at no cost. He also runs, as a volunteer, a weekly “All Recovery” meeting for these same YO Court participants and other men in the Court Diversion programs. Never shy about sharing his personal story, Steve is a shining example of what is possible to achieve, given opportunities in early recovery.

Steve speaks locally and nationally and has been Keynote Speaker for the U.S. District Court Annual Conference, State Bar of Nevada, National and Association of Drug Court Conference. Steve also shares his story and speaks about success at the Specialty Court Graduations throughout Nevada.

A newlywed, Steve and his wife Lorena enjoy spending time together with their blended family.

Person-Directed Recovery

Person-centered recovery is directed, as much as possible by the person – including decisions about who should be included in the process.  The planning identifies just a few small, but meaningful, short-term changes that the individual can focus on helping to reduce some of the barriers or challenges moving forward.  Person centered care should be central to all recovery frameworks.
