Former Mayor Pro Tem Steve D. Ross, native Nevadan, born in Reno, moved to Las Vegas as a child. As a Councilman, Ross placed public safety, smart growth and recreational opportunities as his top priorities and believes it is important to make sure that public services such as fire stations, police, roads and flood control channels keep pace with the growth in the community. Steve Ross’ election to the Las Vegas City Council followed years of community involvement as a volunteer. Former Councilman Ross continues those volunteer efforts today as a Board Director for the Las Vegas Area Boy Scout Council, Little League, lacrosse and other youth activities. Ross is an active member of his church.
Steve Ross is a solid and steadfast supporter of the Las Vegas Recovery Community and has played an integral part in the development, approval and implementation of the first Recovery High School in the State.
His personal story includes a willingness to publicly share and acknowledge a family member who struggles with addiction and its consequences.
His other concerns and involvements range from Naloxone Trainings to expanding the needed services in Southern Nevada.
Ever vigilant, his sights are set on removing the barriers that exist for those wishing to enter and live a life of recovery. Councilman Ross and his wife Kelli have five children and 13 grandchildren. He likes to say his own family provides a constant reminder of his obligation to protect the quality of life for all families.
