FFR is Seeking Recovery Leaders in Nevada

Are you a person in addiction and/or co-occurring recovery interested in peer leadership? Are you passionate about helping your peers advance recovery to the next level, but you are unsure how to move forward?  Foundation for Recovery, by a generous grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, is forming county teams of peers, family members and allies under our Nevada Recovery Network Project.

The Nevada Recovery Leadership teams will assist to:

  • Identify others; peers, family members and allies living in their area that support addiction and co-occurring recovery to share recovery stories, locate recovery recourses and enhance recovery supports;
  • Participate in and/or host our virtual weekly recovery leadership skills training
  • Participate in and/or host our virtual monthly Nevada Recovery Network meetings

The overall goal of the Nevada Recovery Network Project is to promote, support and enhance addiction and co-occurring recovery communities, peer recovery support organizations and recovery support services throughout Nevada. The first of its kind in the state, this project will address the absence of the peer voice in our behavioral health service systems, educate recovery stakeholder organizations and peers on how to develop best practices and policies; and stress the importance of why we need peer recovery support services to sustain recovery in Nevada—and as a member of the Nevada Recovery Leadership team, you are the key to our success!

Person-Directed Recovery

Person-centered recovery is directed, as much as possible by the person – including decisions about who should be included in the process.  The planning identifies just a few small, but meaningful, short-term changes that the individual can focus on helping to reduce some of the barriers or challenges moving forward.  Person centered care should be central to all recovery frameworks.
