Ideas for creating an ongoing recovery friendly culture
As an employer, you are central to supporting a life in recovery. You can have an enormous impact on employee health and the company’s bottom-line by implementing some of the following suggestions after your designation.
Ongoing recovery friendly workplace culture practices and activities can include:

- Have space available for mutual aid support groups on-site
- Hire people in recovery
- Participate in one prevention or recovery focused community event each year
- Incorporate a recovery focused activity, information or education into your existing events such as health, wellness, or resource fairs
- Establish a relationship with Foundation for Recovery, your local recovery community organization (RCO), as a resource for employees to connect to recovery support services (telephonically, virtually, or in-person)
- Provide a variety of non-alcoholic options at company-wide events
- Encourage healthy after-hour activities in addition to or in lieu of happy hour
- Consider including recovery support services and treatment resources included in your company's Employee Assistance Program
