Call Your Senators- Medicaid is Essential for Addiction Treatment

The U.S. Senate is moving quickly to pass legislation by the July 4 recess, which is really June 30, as that is the last day the Senate is in session before break. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) needs two weeks to score the legislation, which means that the legislation has to be written by this Friday the 16th to make that deadline. That leaves the Senate very few legislative days to rewrite 1/6th of the Country’s economy.

The Senate recently stated that they would not let the public see the bill before it is voted on. That is a direct result of the advocacy of millions of people scaring them into silence.

Your voice matters! Melt down the phone lines, and inundate their inboxes!

Call your state Senators on Thursday June 15th for a National Call-in Day

We are very concerned that the AHCA’s proposed changes to our health care system will result in reductions in health care coverage, particularly for vulnerable populations including those suffering from addiction and mental illness, and we cannot support the bill in its current form. We collectively represent consumers, families, providers, health care and social service professionals, advocates and allied organizations who are committed to meaningful and comprehensive policies to reduce the toll of substance use disorders and mental illness through prevention, treatment and recovery support services.

Person-Directed Recovery

Person-centered recovery is directed, as much as possible by the person – including decisions about who should be included in the process.  The planning identifies just a few small, but meaningful, short-term changes that the individual can focus on helping to reduce some of the barriers or challenges moving forward.  Person centered care should be central to all recovery frameworks.
