Recovery Support Technologies Continuing Education Hours Event for RECOVERY MONTH!

NEW CEH EVENT FOR RECOVERY MONTH!
Recovery Support Technologies
Presenter: Daniel Fred, M.S.
Continuing Education Hours: 3
9:00 AM – 12:15 PM
September 22, 2017 (Las Vegas)
September 29, 2017 (Reno)

Recovery support technologies can help individuals meet their need to be part of a community, which is essential to supporting recovery efforts. Recent studies examining specific technologies (e.g., telephones, Interactive Voice Response technology, web-based programs using computers and/or smart phones, blogs, podcasts, social network sites, and texting) to deliver recovery services found that using this approach can increase recovery participation and decrease the likelihood of relapse. Furthermore, technology can extend the reach of recovery support services for individuals residing in rural and remote areas whose behavioral health conditions may be made worse due to limited availability and access to treatment and recovery services.

This training will identify some of the barriers to accessing recovery support services and how mobile technology and the internet play a role in reducing those barriers; discuss research surrounding the benefits of using technology for recovery support; and showcase several types of technology that can be used to help deliver recovery support services, improve disease management, and compliment behavioral health treatment services.

Person-Directed Recovery

Person-centered recovery is directed, as much as possible by the person – including decisions about who should be included in the process.  The planning identifies just a few small, but meaningful, short-term changes that the individual can focus on helping to reduce some of the barriers or challenges moving forward.  Person centered care should be central to all recovery frameworks.
